Winrun R330 has many good features that are important for heavy electric cars, which appear in the tire markings we state based on actual meters on normal roads. As a better alternative, we mean what is easily measurable, such as internal measured noise (not EU-measured noise by passing an external noise meter), braking on wet roads, stability in the road surface (tracking) and service life. The service life is well documented with Treadwear 420 stamped on the tire side. Michelin has by comparison Treadwear from 220-300, and significantly shorter life.
We test and compare tires to find good alternatives to what the cars are delivered with from a car dealer, and Winrun is today the summer tire that measurably has the most optimal properties, based on the same measurements that we use as a basis for the EV winter tire Frigus EV Ice 3.
Below you can read a little about the comparison of Winrun with Michelin delivered on the new Tesla model X. It is important to note that the comparison of noise has been made on new tires and on partly rough asphalt on Østre Akerveien on Kalbakken in Oslo. On the road with finer asphalt, the differences become smaller, and if the tires are more worn, the differences also become a little smaller, but still the stiffness of the tire trunk makes a significant difference, in favor of the Winrun tire.
Model X is a heavy electric SUV that can be compared to the Audi e-Tron when it comes to wheels. The slightly smaller and lighter electric SUVs also have similar requirements for good electric car tires, so we believe that the assessments used here will be representative of most electric SUVs.
